I was looking up old cowboy tunes on the internet, and found out that Walter Brennan bought a 12,000 acre ranch south of Joseph in 1940. He built the Indian Lodge Motel, a variety store and a theater in Joseph, and lived there between movie roles until he died in 1974.

Walter Brennan! Yikes, I'm way too young to know what you are talking about.

Music and the times have changed and not always for the better. Thanks for the memories.

Not a Brennan tune but I also recall; Water, Cool Clear Water.... Used to drive me nuts while I was stranded in Phoenix for 15 years.

This movie was filmed not long before I was born, but when TV broadcasting started it was a prime time movie for TV, right along with Bogey and Bacall in To Have and To Have Not.

The first commercial TV broadcast (in NYC) was in 1947, the year I was born. It took a while for TV to get to Portland, so I remember turning on the TV in the middle of the day and watching a test pattern because there was no programming. Anybody else remember Heck Harper? Mr. Moon?

Welcome back, Hawk. I assume you were back in the 19th century for a few days? My phone has been out since the 7th, and still isn't back on again, but the DSL works. Go figure.
