You don't have the power to have him shut down. I assure you, he pays a lot more taxes than you do.

Is this the same guy who doesn't want to buy his wife a soda at a restaurant? Or, they're twins. Sorry. Lol.

Nope, not me. I haven't had a soda in years and neither has my girlfriend. Don't drink sugar water.

Update: I called the FDA here (Pacific Region) and was told you can bring water into any establishment in Oregon. The bottle must either be A) empty or B) factory sealed. The only exception is if the bottle was glass (which mine was not) they can ask you not to bring it in. In the same way you can't bring glass bottles into sports arena. While I didn't report this establishment, I was told that any establishment refusing empty or factory sealed bottles are in violation of the rules and should be reported.

Looks like the only mistake I made here was bringing a half full water bottle in. From now on I'll make sure it's empty before going in.

You can't compare bringing FREE water into a restaurant (where it's actually costing the restaurant to give you water anyway) to something else like some posters have. Bringing cider into a bar that only sells beer for example.
I've never seen anyone bring their own water bottle into a restaurant.

So, you were in violation after all.

So you say. As far as he knew, it was vodka.

Law or no law, permit or no permit, it's his place his rules. If his rule is no outside containers then no outside containers. Period. It's not your place to challenge the rule or negotiate an exception then get pissy when one isn't granted.

If you call the police over someone bringing a bottle of water into a restaurant, then you deserve whatever fines the police levy on you for wasting their time and the taxpayers' money.

Actually, if a person refuses to leave an establishment for any violation of the rules of that establishment they are trespassing.

OP - You were wrong.

You might have brought Vodka in to his restaurant for all he knows... and he does not need to take the time to test it, or fight with difficult customers about it. Why were you such a jerk about it?

His license is his livelihood, and you put him at risk for no reason.
