Why are they still there? Why hasn't the local government or the feds go up and remove them from the property?

They're morons for sure.

Time is not on the side of LE. Once the weather warms up, nothing short of armed intervention is going to get them out of that refuge, and that's not likely to happen. Since LE is unwilling to even blockade them.

Because they are not black, and they are not Muslim.

Avoiding another Waco? Since when did the laws of our land change to the extent that prior offenses and subsequent arrests, violent or not, have altered our collective will to have the law be upheld? Law enforcement should have been on the scene that first day, done their job and these clowns would now be dead or incarcerated.

Have we become so hateful of our government that we no longer trust those in it's service to enforce federal law? And even if you agree with the Bundy's, their chosen path isn't a wise one and most know that is the truth of this case. Go there, take them down, prosecute them, and imprison them in the name of the people of the United States. This has become appeasement at it's worst...

Here is a link to the backstory of what has lead up to this, take the time to read the whole article. This issue with the Hammons and BLM has been going on for many years, it's nothing new.

I agree. Warm weather is also going to attract more loitering militia types which not only adds to the circus, but increases the chances of something violent happening at both the nature center and in the "rear areas". Even with cold weather, a third militia group has arrived at the area.

This circus needs to get shut down before it gets too big.

Perhaps a commission should study the purpose, need and scale of the wildlife refuge? If some local concerns are valid, then land management practices on the refuge can be altered.

Have you heard of Wako or Ruby Ridge? If not, google them. These guys are armed and will not go willingly and the Feds don't want to make them martyr's.

Local LE isn't equipped to go against 20+ wingnuts with assault rifles, and the FBI is an investigative organization rather than an army. It's pretty clear that any attempt to just go out there and start arresting people will result in serious casualties; I'm not sure the people of Burns deserve to lose friends, parents, and spouses just because Facebook is crawling with mindless memes about how this wouldn't be allowed if they were Muslim or black (one of them is an open ISIS supporter, so there goes that theory anyway).

It'll take military action to actually get them out with the least amount of casualties, and maybe that should happen, idk. The situation is also complicated by the fact that there are children out there. And they can see anyone coming from a long ways away; it's open country out there.

So you propose that we let them keep the wildlife refuge? Just turn public land over to them, because we don’t want any trouble?
