From my point of view, I have to wonder about the thought process of a person who says to themself: I am a tenant and I am going to be a tenant in the future. Landlords don't like dogs. Landlords who take dogs don't take big dogs. No landlord will take a pit bull. Hey, I know, I am going to get myself a great big pit bull.
First and foremost, I am a homeowner, so I know for a fact, State Farm accepts the bully breed. In this case, I'm guessing you don't have State Farm. So, yes, there is an insurance issue, but not always.

Second, my situation is about to change, as I will be putting my home on the market in the next couple months, and relocating. With that being said, I adopted my dog 11 years ago from the Central Oregon Humane Society; so not everyone gets a pittie with the intention of renting. Sometimes situations change. Life happens.

You're telling me, if Rachel Ray, Kaley Cuoco, or Helen Keller (when she was alive), were to need a place to rent, you'd turn them down? (I suspect you wouldn't since they have money). All three have or do rescue bully breed dogs. That doesn't sound like a bad tenant to me. It does sound like a decent human being though.

Aside from the insurance issue (which unfortunately is true for many), your statement comes across as ignorant.

Good luck to the OP. Keep checking the local papers, do a Google search, and call some of the property management and real estate offices in the areas you're interested in.

Oh? Are Rachael Ray, Kaley Cuoco, and the departed Helen Keller lifetime tenants?

You suspect wrong. If they showed up with their pit bull on a string, I would reject them. It doesn't help me one bit that they have money. If my insurance agent cancelled my insurance because of the pit bull and the house got hit by lightening and burned down, Rachel Ray, Kaley Cuoco, or Helen Keller would not pay to replace my house. The insurance company would not pay to replace my house because they had canceled my insurance. I'd just be out of luck and minus my house.

It is a bit unrealistic to expect a landlord to switch insurance companies just so a tenant can have a pit bull. The odds are not good of that happening.

Incidentally, home owners insurance and commercial insurance for a rental property are not the same thing at all.

Check out the Klamath Falls Craig's List under Apts./Housing. Someone recently posted having off-grid cabins on acreage for rent. There's one on 10 acres for $500/month and another on 20 acres for $600/month. Dogs and livestock are welcome, it says. Very remote area, electric by generator, water trucked in, but you might be interested?

They're not in Klamath Falls or even Klamath County. It says it's near Silver Lake, OR. I'm not sure where that is. I just noticed it because I'm building a cabin and am interested in them.

Silver Lake is on HWY 31, in Lake County. It's a very rural area, about 2 hrs east of Klamath Falls. The biggest draw is probably the Cowboy Dinner Tree. Fort Rock is not too far away, and Lakeview is about 1 1/2 hrs away. You'd be closer to La Pine for groceries, as it's about an hour away.

how can I find a farmer or rancher with a small house ...
If op ever comes back.... Capital Press / feed store / grain elevator / co-op / church ( as mentioned). We like to keep tenants / boarders on our rural props, not tough to do, but aerial surveilance for code enforcement is increasingly troublesome.

Camo netting is your friend.
