Yep. This is why the input of people who have real life familiarity is more valuable than some latter-day Californian armed with an online map and a know-it-all attitude. That route is hellish more often than not.

How about you just go to businesses were you live? Are they supposed to put up rainbow flags, or what?

Also, maybe a bakery business is not the best idea for coastal Oregon. I just like baking.

I'll think about other business options as well, I just need a change right now and I absolutely love the PNW, and how green and beautiful everything is! Thanks for everyone's input.

Also to the OP, sorry if I hijacked your thread, I should have started my own.
I think there is room for a bakery in Seaside. I think Cannon Beach and Astoria already have good ones. Lincoln City doesn't have a good bakery, but it also isn't conducive to walking traffic which I think you need for a business like that. I don't think that city would be a good choice for a bakery.

You don't have to have a food truck. You can have a successful business but it will be hard and it will own you for several years while you build it. Honestly, exceptional food always does well. If you aren't an exceptional baker then it will be harder to do well in a small community.

Then there's the length of Lincoln City, within itself, from Neotsu to Cutler City. 6-7 miles of congestion, nearly year-round.

Seaside might be worth exploring!

It's not all spread out like Lincoln City.
Very walkable, lots of people visit year round.

It has lots of small shops, a city center, and 101 doesn't slice through the middle of Seaside like it does Lincoln City.

So if you want to visit Seaside, you might as well park at the big lot close to the center of town and walk around.

From Spring Break to the end of Summer it's 100% packed with tourists and day trippers from Portland, since it's also the closest "vibrant" coastal community to Portland!

BTW, it's possible to take US26 just about all the way from Mt Hood to Seaside (when 26 ends at the coast, you have to turn right on 101).
It's a pretty interesting day drive!

It's the shortest, quickest, easiest, and most direct way to get to the coast from Portland.

The Hood to Coast Run does that every year!

Cannon Beach might be a tad closer, but it's also much smaller and much more expensive.
It's more of a "high end" tourist village, with lots of art galleries, spendy boutiques, etc.

It turns out that my sister can't move into our house at this time, and I won't leave it vacant, or rent it out, so I'll be staying in the San Gabriel Valley for now. Thanks for the great ideas though!

Come to Yachats! Plenty of pride and progressive values in the Gem of the Oregon Coast. You WILL see rainbow flags and meet fabulous locals and eat awesome food. But there's no gas station.

I have never seen a rainbow flag anywhere in Yachats. The flags must be pretty small.

From Newport on down to the California border. Also, looking to find like kind of places in and around Cave Junction.
Thanks
Meaning they don't have any no gays allowed signs on the front door? Why do we still have these questions in 2017?
