I was born and raised in OR. I never remember anyone choosing one over the other. It was soda, it was pop, it was soda pop. Who cares one way or the other. It'll all rot your teeth no matter what you call it.

Maybe true on the teeth but nowadays they can fix them. I will admit that a can of Coke a few times/week is pure heaven. At least for me anyway. I do like the stuff - hopefully in moderation.

You guys could just as well argue over how to pronounce Oregon. Is it OR-i-gun or is it OR-EH-gone?

You laugh, but I've been called out for pronouncing Oregon wrong before. I used to draw it out: OHR-eh-gahn. Now I pronounce it OHR-gun or OHR-egun. I've never heard Washington pronounced with a WARSH sound. That sounds almost like you would say: WARSH-shintin or WAH-shintin. I say WAH-shing-ton.

There ain't no R in WAshington.

It's pronounced just like it's spelled. Wash (as in wash your hands) -ing-ton.
No R sound whatsoever.

Growing up in NorCal I always heard OHR-gun except from East Coast broadcasters.
