Husband may take a job in Albany, looking into Jefferson and Lebanon to start, we like quiet towns with 3000 to 10,000 population. He would like to keep commute to no more that 20 minutes. How far out would you live factoring the traffic. We have lived in Idaho the past 15 years and both towns were small with no issues with commuting so we are out of our element on what to expect on the highways. I appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Well you are not going to have a lot of options. Both of those towns are slightly over a 20 minute commute. Just take a map and draw a circle 15 miles around Albany, and see what you get. It looks to me like your best option would just be to live in Albany or on the outskirts. It's not really that big a town.

There isn't significant traffic unless there is an accident. Either of those cities would be fine to live in for commuting. From Jefferson highway time is maybe 10 minutes at the most, so then it will be local street traffic depending on where the workplace is in Albany. Lebanon would take more than 20 minutes for commuting time. It is farther off the highway compared to Jefferson. So if commute time is your criteria, then Jefferson wins in that regard.

Lebanon is more of a city though if that is important to you. There isn't a whole lot right there in Jefferson.

Apparently the job would be in Millersburg so from what I can research it isn't all that far from Jefferson. Appreciate the response Silverfall. A 20 minute commute isn't bad at all we are use to several inches of snow for driving conditions so for us it is about where is the heavy traffic areas so we can avoid those spots. We think we will pull the rv over and stay in that for a year and get acclimated to the area then buy.

To Millersburg would be maybe 15 minutes from Jefferson. It would lengthen the time from Lebanon. Maybe 30 minutes?

Albany isn't that big and there are some nice neighborhoods, especially on the outskirts. You might want to take a look around before you decide against it. Short commute time improves quality of life.

You really want to verify that where you park your RV is OK.

I had some clients that parked at Hee Hee up in northern Salem for a couple of months and it was nice. I know there is one by Jefferson, which would be a really easy commute, but I haven't been to that one so I'm not sure about how that one is.

Did some research on the RV parks and there is a nice one in Jefferson. Thanks for the responses.
