Hey all.

So, thinking about hanging out in Portland for 3 days mid-February. Would be driving from Boise, taking 84 literally the whole way there.

Hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but with the mountains there, is this a safe drive in February? Obviously, I'd keep a look out for storms, but if there are NO storms around, is that a relatively easy drive or no??

Any other suggested routes??

Thanks!

I answered a question about I-84 in Eastern Oregon not long ago. Read here: //www.city-data.com/forum/orego...aho-going.html

Another area that can be windy and slippery when the weather is bad is I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge.

You can get a good look at the actual road conditions by checking the highway cameras.

My biggest concern would be fog on Cabbage Hill (Between La Grande & Pendleton). Also make sure you have winter tyres.
