Not true. The town of Bend has some really excellent doctors who live there for the lifestyle and give up the big bucks they could get in Portland. They want the better lifestyle for themselves and their families.

The hospital in Salem is excellent. That's close enough to the coast to drive to for scheduled medical appointments. Unless you need a monthly heart transplant, the doctors in Salem can meet all of your medical needs.

I've not been to the hospital in Eugene, but suspect that there are plenty of excellent doctors in Eugene. its a large enough city to have a good hospital.

Yeah and there’s a doctor in what, Texas talking about demon sperm so obviously not all are the same. Which is true of any job.

Anyone who's been a patient at Tuality hospital in Hillsboro has found that out the hard way.

Cardiologists tend to do a lot of hospital admissions. It's not like family practice or pediatrics where you can have a small clinic anywhere. So the best practicing cardiologists are going to be near major hospitals where they can admit patients and do lots of hospital call. That is going to eliminate most of the communities along the coast except maybe Coos Bay which has the largest hospital on the coast by far. Newport, Lincoln City, Tillamook, and Astoria also have small hospitals but I don't know how much cardiology work they do. I expect most cardiologists in OR who are in private practice are going to have their practices located near major hospitals for that reason.

Netarts to Astoria you can get to St Vincent's in 90.
Pacific City, Neskowin, Lincoln City to Salem in 90. PC has a 24/7 ambulance service.
Newport to Corvallis in 90.
Florence to Eugene in 90.

I am more familiar with PC & Neskowin.
McMinneville is big enough to have cardiologists and 20 minutes closer to the coast.

Oregon, there is no such thing as living close to the coast. Either you are at the coast within a mile or you are inland in the foothills of the coast range. The foothills come down to the beach in many places, most. You would be wise to be in the higher land.

You can add 30 min to an hour to those times in the middle of a January snowstorm hitting the coast range when you are stuck behind snowplows, or during peak summer weekends when the 2-lane roads are clogged with RVs and weekend tourist travel. Or hours if one of the highways gets taken out by a slide, which happens as well. That is when you had better have life flight insurance. Especially if you are a cardiology patient.
