I was born in Coos Bay, and moved away at the age of 7! Always kinda missed it! I will be heading back to visit sometime this month. Probably stay for 5 days! I wanna spend a lot of time at the state parks just past Charleston! What's the cheapest way? Do I need a daily park pass? Monthly? I am a retired Vet if that helps any! May even check out the job market! Although on Indeed, it looks fairly limited! Mainly just curious about the best way to go about a state park pass for roughly 5 days!!! Thanks in advance!!!

1-day passes are $5 and bought at the park entrances.
12-month passes are $30 and bought online or venders like sporting good stores and at the park offices.

You do the math. That is just for parking. Camping costs extra.

The 1-day passes are good for the whole day at as many parks as you want to visit that day. So you can visit multiple parks with a single day pass.

FWIW, the only State Park past Charleston that has the entry/parking fee is Shore Acres. Cape Arago and Sunset are no-cost. If up for a pleasant hike and/or want to save the $5 at Shore Acres, you can park at Cape Arago or Sunset and walk to Shore Acres. I'd guess a bit over a mile from either park. There used to be a poorly marked trail from the gazebo-end of Sunset that kept mainly off the highway but it was getting overgrown even years ago. Or, shorten the walk a half-mile or so by parking at the Simpson Reef overlook and heading to Shore Acres from there. :-)

More FWIW if heading to Federal parks: Free admission for veterans with ID (a VA card, Veteran ID card, annotation on state D/L, etc). A limited number of folks in the same vehicle are also admitted free. You do need to get an Interagency Military Pass in advance to display on the dash if you enter a park that isn't manned at the entrance

If you are a 30%+ disabled vet then you can get a free Oregon Parks Pass. It's good for unlimited day use in all state parks, and can be used at many BLM, Forest Service, etc. parks too. You also get 10 days of free camping in state parks each month. Stay 5 days in one park, then move for another 5 days in another park. Here's the link: https://stateparks.oregon.gov/?do=v.page&id=19
