I am wondering if anyone has flown into Medford on Alaska Airlines or something similar. We are considering flying into Medford from Maui. We would switch to a smaller plane in Seattle.

Our other option is flying to Portland and renting a car and driving down.

But we would have to get a motel and rent a car that would seat the 8 of us. So the cost winds up being close to just flying to Medford.

I am wondering about the smaller planes. Is it a bumpy ride? I imagine they are similar to what we would fly interisland here. You tend to really feel the turbulence.

thanks again,
Aloha

If it's on Alaska, It's a Bombardier (sp?) Roughly a 35 seat prop jet. It's a bit noisy, but it's not particularly rough. The flight from Portland to Seattle is 45 minutes, and the flight from Portland to Medford is roughly the same, so it's not a long flight. They cruise at maybe 10,000-15,000 feet, not the standard 30,000+. It'll be a much, much faster if you fly from Seattle to Medford - otherwise the landing, the wait, the re-boarding, the take off (and that's not including layover time) will add an awful lot of time.

I've flown Portland to Klamath Falls maybe 10 times and Portland to Medford probably 4.

Flying into Medford on a small plane isn't that bad. The takeoffs and landings are a little bumpy, but the ride isn't too loud or too turbulent if the weather's clear. I've flown from Medford to Portland, San Fran, Phoenix, and LA and vice versa multiple times. It's pretty tolerable.

Spending 4.5 hours in a van or SUV with 8 people wouldn't be fun, I don't imagine. I'd fly into Meddy if I were you.
