i hear things about a possible tsunami from an earthquake and wonder if ashland or medford would be affected. we have some family there but not sure about where towns are to the ocean and stuff

Both cities are at least 75 or 100 miles inland from the ocean so you have no worry..

A tsunami that big would probably destroy half of the US and Mexico and Canada.Your safe all the way up there.

Yeah, being Medford is over 1000 feet in elevation it would take a tremendous one to go up the Rouge river over 100 miles and up 1000 feet, I'd say safe.

I think if you are 100 miles away, you'll be safe. If you aren't, then we'll all have a lot more to worry about than a tsunami! I'm only about 60 YARDS from the ocean, but I'm supposedly out of the tsunami zone because I'm high enough.

aside from the distance, I believe the Siskiyou mountain range is between Ashland and the ocean. Some of the peaks are 7,000 feet. I don't know what the elevation of the passes are but I'm sure at least a couple thousand feet. lol this has gotta be one helluva tsunami to overtake a sizable mountain range. You'd see it from space!
