We are moving to the Albany area in a couple of months. We would like to find a house to rent for a year or so until we find the perfect house to buy.

I would like recommendations of realtors or property managers that are good to deal with and which ones to stay clear of.

As a Realtor - my recommendation would be to NOT really contact any real estate agents at this point...most of us don't deal with rentals and, while many would love to get to know you and be the person to help you down the road...your best bet is to get here, get settled, find your way around, and then - based on the recommendations of your friends and others - find a real estate professional you like and trust.

As far as property management - there is a couple that I know of, who manage property. They are very nice people and very trustworthy. You can dm me and I'd be happy to pass their contact info. You may actually do better by searching Craig's List and the local paper where you'll find a rental from an individual. You can also check some of the local builders are renting their houses out until the market changes.

There is one property management company with a terrible reputation in the area. I have had no personal dealings with them, so I am hesitant to publicly badmouth them (not my style) - but again, DM me and I'll pass that info on to you so that you can "google them" and judge for yourself.

Best of luck...Albany is a great little town and we've been very happy here.

We dealt with Coldwell Banker when we bought our house a few months ago. They are very friendly, professional, helpful, and everything else you would want in a good business.
