I have a friend from San Diego he says though that people from Oregon don't go to the Pacific Ocean to surf?

People in Oregon generally do not surf in the ocean. That's not to say that there aren't some die hard surfers, but if you head to the coast here most people are just enjoying the scenery and not freezing their behinds off in the ocean.

If you're a student in Eugene, I believe there is a surf club at UO. I would start there after investing in a 4+ full suit. Florence will be the closet surf spot.

Oh :/ Yeah i've never done it before...most of my friends here in the suburbs of D.C. never have either. Going to the west coast and surfing has just been one of those things I'd have liked to do

surfers in Oreg
We used to go to Lincoln City and further south in the winter for relaxing weekends and would nearly always run into surfers that thrilled to the higher waves and fewer people on the beach so they didn't have to be as careful. Our daughter had 4 friends who were always heading down in their wetsuits too but she didn't care for the cold water so never joined them.
