The best food in Coos Bay is in the bottom of the bay. Buy some crab traps, some chicken wings from Safeway, put the chicken in the traps, drop them off the pier, and half an hour later you got the freshest, tastiest natural seafood in North America. Check with locals about the season and tides.

It's been about ten years since I was there, but it was just about the best time I ever had. My friend had a camp stove with a giant pot of boiling water for the crabs and a slightly smaller pot with melted butter. We ate them all right there on the beach. There was alcohol involved.

Bon Apetit!

And.......don't forget to buy the $6.50 Crabbing Shellfish Permit License also. Crabbing is not free anymore.

Yes, there are a couple of good Health Food stores in Coos Bay. But tofu is sold in the grocery stores so no need to worry.

The oldest health/natural food store in the Coos Bay area is Coos Head Food Store. Now in it's 39th year. Located on Hwy 101/Sherman Ave in North Bend.

There is a good one at Fred Meyer also, but Coos Head is the best.
