SALEM, Ore., May 6 (UPI) -- An Oregon state lawmaker said he has authored a resolution that would replace "Oregon, My Oregon" with a more modern official state song.

State Rep. Gene Whisnant, R-Sunriver, said House Joint Resolution 25 would help the state "be modern" by making "Oregon, My Oregon" the state anthem and reserving the state song position for "No Place Under the Sun Like Oregon," which was written in the 1970s by country singer Lindy Gravelle, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Wednesday.

I like our state song, but I don't care if it's called the state anthem instead.

I'd rather see us get an updated flag. I reallllly like Flag G:

It's refreshing to hear that our legislature is working on the real tough issues facing the state such as picking a new state song and naming the Dungenous as the official state crab.

No kidding!! Maybe we can have new license plates that say "Will Work For Food"! I don't know how many of those you get up north, but we have an overabundance of them in the southern end.
