I'm grew up in Illinois and we are NOT humid like that. Summers are spectacular out here and we get the occasional muggy day in the rainy season, but it doesn't even come close to Midwest humidity.

I'm now going forward: taking into account your #2 pick (Willamette Valley), as the most temperate summer weather, coupled with your observation that "Most of the state's population lives here. All Oregon's major cities are in the Willamette Valley." leads to me this: which of the counties encompassing #2 has the least density of population, allowing one to enjoy the climate and also find relative seclusion?

I guess coming from Miami Beach, I'm kinne nervous of the hustle and bustle life style and that's what I'm trying to avoid. Being that my search is for a summertime residents only, I think an acre or so of land with a cute cabin-like feel on the outskirts of a quite town would be nice. I have no use for clubs, bars, or the like. However, being a gourmet chef and yoga teacher, a nice farmers market nearby would make me a happy man. My entire days are spent between practicing yoga, playing in the kitchen, long walks, and reading. Age 40, if that means anything. I'm also not in need of a job at the destination.
