Hello All,

My wife is considering a job offer in the medical field located in Roseburg OR. We naturally have some questions we hoped someone could answer for us. We are in our mid 50's and were wondering what is life like in Roseburg, what do you do for outdoor fun, what is the job market like in Roseburg / Eugene, what is the housing market like and are there rentals available until we get settled in.

Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you...

Teal

My cousin, who is in her 80s and well connected to the community, doesn't think they have an employment issue. I think it depends on your occupation (if you drive a log truck it could be tough).

You will find that housing is very reasonably priced when compared to communities north of Roseburg. Yes, rent initially while you learn the neighborhoods.

My father worked for the Corp of Engineers. One thing I learned at his knee is that dams are not forever. Buy a home where flood control has never been a concern.

Outdoor activities: walk, run, ride a bike, fish (Umpqua River). There is skiing at the Wmt. Pass, there may be something closer but I lived in Eugene for a while so didn't need to look south.

I don't know many details, but sure like driving through there. Very nice looking area.

You can easily ignore the reply the they shotgunkidd - sounds like some internet troll.

Its pretty much a full service town. Folks around that area seem to take a keen interest in high school sports too.

The ocean is not too far away, either.

So you are from Wichita? One of my best friends is from Wichita. Lived in Oregon for nearly 30 years though. Only goes back once a year to tend a crop of Black Walnut trees.

Anyhow, I'd consider Roseburg if I was moving from the outside in,
