Hello,
I am looking to relocate to OR. I lived in Seattle for 30 years and then last year moved to CA, Bay area and miss the pacific NW. The people, culture and lifestyle, rain I can still do without, but what are you going to do.

I have a question regarding employment and where to live, I am looking between Portland and Lake Oswego and Salem.

I am single and have a dog. I dont have any kids. I am looking for yoga studios and dog parks, relaxing pace and safe and fun. Nightlife, good restraunt and fun saturday markets.

Work, I know its bad all over but how is Portland and Salem holding up? I am interested in medical billing and coding insurance and office work, customer servicve.

I look forward to hearing from all.

You know your lifestyle sounds more suited to Portland.

Salem's unemployment rate is running around 11.5% or so. I think Portland's is less than ours. Why wouldn't you move back to Seattle?

Yoga studios, nightlife and safe? You'd be a lot better off in Portland. Salem is the capitol of Oregon and therefore has lots of government jobs and services, and is more conservative. Many parts of Salem experience high crime rates, especially property crimes. Lake Oswego is a very expensive bedroom community of Portland. Highest per capita income in Oregon. You may want to explore Eugene, Oregon's second largest city. It has a very active night life and very yoga-friendly lifestyle.

Does Eugene have jobs, does Portland have jobs?

If I were you, I'd google the Oregon hospitals & look at the job listings. I see billing openings all the time for Peace Health.
