Hi Everyone,

What city in Oregon (besides the big ones) do you feel has a decent night life in terms of the number of restaurants and pubs? When you have gone out in that city, what establishments do you like best?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Best!!!

Night WHAT? 90% of cities in Oregon roll up the sidewalks around 7 PM; maybe even earlier during the week depending on the population. Let me describe the average scene at a bar outside of Portland, Bend and Eugene, and some there as well... Old Dudes in large groups, Meth-addled Hags, chunky bartenders, crappy music playing on the jukebox, and if you're lucky, a full set of teeth amongst all the patrons put together. It's more fun just to play video poker/slots. At least you can actually win money doing that!

Nightlife outside of Eugene and Portland... Heh. Yeah. There's not really much. As ditchlights said, maybe Bend... Maybe. Oregon is pretty sleepy. Not to say there aren't some decent restaurant scenes in other cities, but just not much "night life". In Ashland you can actually find some people staying up late, out on the town. People will go there from Medford, plus the college students make for a decent night life on the weekends. The restos are really spendy there though since it's a very yuppy/upscale community. Especially spendy with the city's prepared food tax.

Typically people move to Oregon so they can go rock climbing, kayaking, hiking...they are too tired after a day of that to spend hitting the bars.

There are some college bars around OSU in Corvallis, but really night life and Oregon don't typically go together. Outdoor life and Oregon...that's what we're about.

Ashland would be your best bet for nightlife in Small Town Oregon.

Thanks for the advice. From what I've experienced - Portland, Eugene, Bend, Ashland, Corvallis & Medford have a decent nightlife - just curious if any other smaller cities that I'm not aware of do as well. I didn't mean staying out till 4AM dancing in the streets type nightlife - just several good restaurants (I love ethnic food) and a few decent bars/pubs.

Best!!!

Hi Silverfall,

That's exactly why I want to move back to Oregon. It's the most beautiful state in the US that I have ever seen. However, as a single guy, it's nice to follow up a day of hiking with a couple of beers and a good meal at a cool bar/restaurant where pretty girls congregate.

Best!!!

We have plenty of beer and burgers here. When people say nightlife, I think clubbing until the wee hours of the morning...

There is no shortage of grub and good brew, especially if you prefer micro's. And yes, it is definitely a beautiful state. Mass congregations of good lookin' girls could be a challenge in many areas, but not totally out of the question. LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION!
