I love to ski, but have some family and friends who are not skiers, but I would hate to drag them up to a ski resort area and just have them sit around all day with nothing to do while I had fun and skied, so I was wondering if any Oregon ski resorts offer areas for sledding or inner tubing? I'm thinking of those really big black rubber inner tubes, maybe even the type you can get 2 people on at a time. I might like to do something like this myself in January if I can find one at a nearby resort (will be living in Salem in about 3 weeks).

HooDoo has the autobahn sledding runs. Super fast.

Bend didn't work out for you? I know we are way short of MD's here in Salem so welcome!

Also you can go to Summit Ski Area at Government Camp; Ski Bowl has a tubing area, as does a Sno-Park just past Government Camp on Hwy. 26.

Welcome to Cascadia.

Mt. Bachelor also offers tubing. Probably a bit farther than Hoodoo if your traveling from Salem, but you can always make a vacation of it and stay in Sunriver or Bend for the weekend!

Tubing is really popular with the kids - young and old! Mt. Bachelor has a place for tubing as well as Mt. Hood.

Mt. Bachelor also has sled dog rides which is really cool - but a bit pricey.

No, couldn't find any primary care openings in Bend when I looked earlier this fall, only in Prineville, which was just further away then I wanted to be from Bend. Got depressed driving around that town (no offense to anyone reading this who may be from there/living there now). Just didn't seem to be enough for me to do in the immediate area. Had a good offer from a practice in Salem, so am taking that job. I hear from lots of other people how much of a shortage there is of primary care docs in Salem, so I should be instantly busy (hopefully).

Thanks for all the suggestions guys/gals! I guess most of those ski resorts have the tubing options. Never done it before, so sounds like a fun time. Also thanks for all the warm welcomes to Oregon. I haven't come across an unpleasant Oregonian yet, which makes me even more excited to be settling there. Very strange right now. Here in Florida we've been socked in with heavy rain for 2 straight days now, which is almost unheard of this time of year, and you all have had the bright blue sunny skies. Go figure. Seems like things are turned a bit upside down.
