Anyone know ,if they have extended the broadband network around Welches, Zigzag, Rhodendron, etc area.. I know about couple years ago, it would be next to impossible to get anything but lousy, useless V-SAT (satellite). ANyhow, I was thinking of maybe relocating to Welches area and I found one place that now offers high speed broadband through a company called Wave. Is anyone in this area familiar with the services in these areas? I love the area , but high speed internet is a requirement for me, due to my business.

Yes they do. It is moderately spotty due to being mostly DSL service. I know on Welches RD its there. Then up in Zig Zag up near the village and other spots where there is a cluster of homes they have a box relatively close by. Brightwood had it as well at a friends house.

So its there, just make sure its at the particular spot.

I don't know what area you're considering there, but my granddaughter lives on a mountain near Salem and found Welcome. Click on the Mobile broadband access and check if it'll work for you. They couldn't get any other broadband and this one works with the Sprint cell towers. They can even take the modem type thing in there car with a laptop. They've used it for almost 2 years now. You could also check with the AT&T and see if that will work.

Thanks for your replies. I heard that Wave internet service provides both high speed cable internet and cable TV to homes in Welches area now. I found a couple that had it. I am seeing if anyone had experience with this company. DSL is an option, but is such a guessing game, sometimes the service is horrible. I know DSL will be extinct in a few years.

As far as mobile internet is concerned, its much too slow. Its just a step above dial-up. You will get highest at 300kbps download/90kbps upload.

I am requiring about 3Mbps download and 1Mbps upload, at least, but really desire much more.
