We have 2 small children, potentially moving to KF very soon--but everything I see about it seems pretty negative. I have lived in very small towns (Independence) and very big cities (LA), so I am pretty adaptable. But I am concerned about schools, crime, lifestyle for my kids. Is there anything to do there for families?
Also, what areas/neighborhoods are better than others? We aren't rich, we're just renting, but we don't want to slum it. Neighborhoods with good parks/schools, family-oriented, would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

I've lived in both and greatly perfer K-Falls. In my opinion, better weather, better people, less crime, more outside activities, lower cost of living... I loved it there. The town itself isn't much to look at, but all around you are wonderful places to have fun- Crater Lake, Fort Klamath, Mt Lakes Wilderness Area, Central Oregon, Captian Jack's Stronghold.... the list is endless.

Go explore!!

Not recommended in Klamath: Mills Addition and some of the area north of Main Street (north 5th, north 6th, Oregon Ave, etc.)

Worth checking out: Areas in the south-east portion of town like Gatewood, streets off Homedale, streets east of Summer's Lane.

Lived most of my life in the Willamette Valley, from Creswell to Portland. Now live in Klamath Falls. You will LOVE it here. Humidity is low so the cold temps don't feel as cold and the heat doesn't feel as hot. We spend more time out of doors than we EVER did in the valley. You can play outside in the snow with blue skies and the sun shining. Before you know it, you'll be peeling off layers until you're in a t-shirt. There is LOTS to see and do in this region. If you have a dog, you'll appreciate the fact that there aren't fleas here (at least our dogs and cats have none). Compared to your area; no mud; less rain; more sunny days in winter; less traffic; also fewer big-city conveniences and fewer job opportunities, but well worth the move, in our opinion.
