Thank You.

Raleigh doesnt have good schools? LOL, ok

Anyhow, Oviedo is a nice area with good schools, which is Seminole Co., which is definitely a step up from Orange Co. schools (overall).

Its not on the rise. The part of east Orlando that we are talking about has low crime overall, its about the same as Oviedo. The traffic can get backed up during rush hour, but its not that bad. Its moves pretty smoothly.

To Com. You can find certain schools in Orange county that are the same if not bettter than certain schools in Seminole county. Seminole county is just known for having all good schools where as Orange has some not so good schools, but most of them are good, its an A rated school district like Seminole county (the only 2 in the 4 counties that make up Metro Orlando). Where tanner crossing is has good schools.

No they don't. But I was looking into Seminole County also. My problem is that I sold my house so darned fast and my buyer had to be in in 3 weeks. As soon as this happened my husbands transfer was ready. So I really don't have alot of time to pack up a large home, get the kids to the dentist, doctor, and pick up school records, be home for the appraiser and go to Florida and just buy another house. Finding a rental was hard enough. This particular house I picked is attached to A rated schools.

My son is in his last year of elementary and my daughter is in her last year of Middle. So whatever happens they both have to switch schools next year anyway. FWIW, My son is in a Raleigh elementary school. I have to drive him almost 70 miles a day back and forth to get him there. All because the town I live in has THE worst schools in the whole county. My sons "Raleigh" school is failing. And it has been failing every year since we have been here. They send me the letter that I can take him out because of their poor performance. But I chose to keep him in there because the other schools are worse.

My daughters Middle school I have no problem with. It is not in Raleigh. She is and has always been a straight A student so school is a breeze to her. The problem is the High School we are attached to. It is the worst. It is dangerous and I'm not sending my kids there. period. No school is perfect I know. To be perfectly honest I should have kept my kids in NJ schools. Those are some of the best. But in order to do that we both would have had to work 3 jobs each just to comfortably cover the outrageous Property tax. And the property tax in NJ is where the schools get there funding from.

So enough on this subject. Thank you all who gave your honest thoughts on my new area. I'm finally getting excited. I can't wait to be able to hang out with my family again and have those big family BBQ's again. And a couple of cocktails.

Worst school in the country and the high school kids are killing eachother after school? I'll have to ask my friends in Durham about all that; that sounds scary. You live 70 miles away from Raleigh to take your kids to school? I certainly applaud you for doing so. That's quite a trip.
