Hi -

Yesterday we just bought a home in Clermont and will be moving there next month.

My husband is retired and has a journeyman's lineman card and knows how to install a 17kw stand-by generator. Does Florida law allow homeowners to install these generators with the auto transfer switch, or does Florida require a State-licensed electrian?

Thanks.

Most municipalities require permits, and a licensed electrician will need to pull the permit. I'm not familiar with Clermont, but give the city a call and they can tell you.

You will need a licensed electrician to pull the permit and the building inspector to sign off on it.

The question is, do you live in Clermont, or simply have a Clermont mailing address. Big difference. If you live in Clermont call City Hall. If you simply have a Clermont mailing address, call the county up in Tavares.
