It's amazing to see how well these builders are doing, especially around the Disney area. Areas like, Windermere, Winter Garden, Davenport, Clermont, and Kissimmee. The first phases are allready selling out! Wouldn't you go for it, if you could build the same house now for 200k, that you could a few years ago for 500k?? It would not be wise NOT to build a home in these areas, especially with the prices at cost, and they are paying closing costs. Great example of why new build is the way to go...There is a community in Davenport offering a FREE POOL AND SPA PACKAGE AND SCREENED IN ENCLOSURE with purchase of inventory or preconstruction home. Unbelievable!!

Sounds like an indirect sales pitch to me ... and anyone that paid $500K for a house in Davenport is missing a few chairs in the auditorium.

I've noticed that subdivisions near me that weren't completed due to the recession are starting to build again. Most have been taken over by new builders, but new construction is going on.

Are these builders trying to go bankrupt? Orlando has like the 3rd most forclosures (per capita) in the US!!! They're barely building anything here in Asheville and we dont have a forclosure/short sale problem at all; and people are trying to move here like crazy (as you can imagine).

I'd like to know who's buying these homes with unemployment so high. Must be people relocating to Orlando, as a lot of folks can't sell their existing house to move.

I'm not seeing the whole "selling out" thing. My friend and I have been going to model homes on 535 and most of the communities were sitting empty with only a model and maybe a couple homes built. Heck, the salespeople seemed so excited that we were even there, and we're both 19 and told them we were looking for a place for after graduation (obviously not going purchase any time soon). It may be a buyer's market, but there's a major lack of buyers.
