I'm in no way advocating Orlando having an NFL team. Just wanted to point out that it has little to nothing to do with the average income.

I should have elaborated further with Disposable Income versus Median Income, and you're right it has nothing to do with that. However when the average resident has little left over after paying for housing and other necessities it has quite a bit to do with legitimate options for pro sports expansion. Orlando is well below the curve, especially when considering 5 year old numbers where housing costs here have gone up considerable (especially rent) while wages have flattened or even decreased.

Back in the 1970s the Dolphins were it for Florida. WHEN the Jaguars have some winning seasons you will see the fan base increase. The owner and management of the Jaguars are courting Central Florida fans actively. Blake Bortles helps but a few winning seasons and some playoff games and Superbowl win will do more. Jacksonville fans are loyal and the city had been looking for NFL since the 1970s

Orlando isn't mentioned in your article. Are you assuming something?

Hover your cursor on the scatter graph and you'll see cities pop up. The Orlando metro area is well below the median (dark diagonal line) at just above $2000 a month Wages After Housing and at around $1100 a month Average Housing Cost....next to metro areas like Las Vegas NV, Riverside-San Bernandino CA, Provo-Orem UT and Cape Coral-Fort Myers FL.

Actually the Jaguars have had winning seasons, since joining the league in 1995 they won two divisional championships and have been in the playoffs for a total of six times. They have a much better won-loss record historically than the Bucs (.452 versus .385) and just 14 fewer wins than the Panthers who started in the league the same time 11 years ago. There's a tendency to look back over the past few years with team performance to make overall judgement calls in terms of quality but the reality is outside of a few consistent winning franchises (New England, Denver, Green Bay) it trails off pretty quickly with league "favorites" like the Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, 49ers, Colts, Saints, Falcons and Steelers arguably falling off with aging rosters and not a whole lot going on in terms of player development. One can see where the Jaguars are in shape to become playoff-caliber again and also see a bit of a change overall in the league in terms of power structure for the next few years.

No taking account other aspects of COL or a lack of income tax in FL. Again, you've made the perplexing argument before that Orlando's high-end shopping and car dealerships are for "visitors" despite the fact that intuitively, the only way, especially for a car dealership, to sustain things is through a decent number of locals to buy their products.

Are you actually under the impression the presence of exotic car dealerships vaults Orlando into the conversation about who gets/deserves pro sports franchises along with a lack of income taxes? It's fairly well known to most outside of this area that Orlando isn't exactly teeming with well-off residents looking to burn some disposable income and Orlando's high end shopping would largely fold minus out of town wallets, case in point....Mall at Milennia. If you're under the impression the high end stores there are here for locals spend an hour observing in some of them. If you're able to get past the varying international accents (Brits, Germans and Brazilians for example) one might hear a few locals/Americans though they're most likely working there.

No, they're not. But collectively all of those high end places add up to a whopping population of around 55k people. I'm sure the NFL is grinding at the bit with that "mass" of potential support.
