My mother showed me this website that lists a 3 bedroom condo in Orlando, FL, for around $20,000, sold "as is". From the pictures it appears to be in livable conditions.

$20,000 is too low. That's not even enough for a down payment in the part of the country where I live.

Can someone please explain to me what's the catch?

Where is the condo located specifically? That's going to be a huge factor.

No more than a few miles west of Orlando International, close to route 528.

Don't be naive, it might be a bad area.

What's wrong with the area? It looks nice from the Google Street View pictures.

Look on the bright side; If it's near Orange Blossom Trail, you can get a prostitute whenever you want one. There is even a midget prostitute that hangs around that area if that's your thing.

LOL

The exact address, by the way, I don't know, but it's the condos north of The Florida Mall, behind Sand Lake Plaza. As I said, looks decent according to Google Street View.

Edit: I googled the Orange Blosson Trail and read articles on the subject and yeah, it appears to be a terrible area.

But $20,000 is still very cheap

Any other thoughts concerning the area north of and across the street from the FL Mall?

Dangerous, crime infested. I've seen drug deals go down in full view of everyone in broad daylight. I don't like to drive through there during the day, I won't do so at night.
