My husband, one year old son, and I are relocating to Orlando in January and need some suggestions on where to live!

He will be working in Altamonte Springs, and I will be working from home. We want a 3-4 bedroom house with a pool (or community pool) to rent under $2000. We currently live 30 minutes outside downtown San Diego, in a nice, family-oriented beach suburb with a fun little downtown with bars, shopping and restaurants as well as being 5-10 minutes from Costco, Target, movie theatres, etc.

We are looking for something similiar in the Orlando area, so far from our research we are leaning towards Winter Park but I've seen a lot of good things about Lake Mary as well. I'm trying to avoid a cookie cutter suburb and want to live in an area with a little more character!

We are visiting next month to try find a place, but only have a couple days to search! Any city or neighborhood suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

You should stick with Winter Park, Baldwin Park, Thornton Park or College Park. Lake Mary is very suburban cookie cutter type community.

Lake Mary would make for a better commute, but I dont see anything in Orlando feeling or resembling San Diego much, lol. I'd say Winter Park, but again, not sure they are exactly comparable.

I think both are good choices. Winter Park has more character and Lake Mary is more cookie cutter.

Broker Dave has good pictures of Lake Mary.
