I'm a single mom of a seven year old. Wanting to relocate from NC. All of my family is in NC but I am in desperated need of a change. I have always wanted to live in/around the Orlando area. If I do decide to risk it and move, what is the best area for me and my son? Most important things are safety and schools. I want a neighborhood where there are plenty of activities for both of us. Not looking into dating (yet!). Just want to concentrate on getting us settled and being happy. Family will be a days drive away or 2hr flight (aprox). Right now I own a gift shop and also have a degree in Medical Assisting. Not sure If I want to do the gift shop thing there yet. I own my house and will be selling it but I really want to rent for a while first. Townhouse/condo/home, whichever is available at a decent price. Don't want to rent for more than $1200.00 for a 2 BD/BA. Heard lots about Dr Phillips, Windemere, Lake Mary. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

All of the areas you have chosen are good. I'm partial to Lake Mary because I live here. It's safe, has great schools and is very covenient. There's also plenty to do. I've seen jobs on Craigslist for Medical Assistant. Your price range for an apartment is more than adequate for this area. If you chose Lake Mary check out Sun Lake Apartments, Pebble Creek Apartments or Regency Park at Lake Mary condos. Good luck! BTW, where are you in NC? Maybe I can compare it to some areas here.

Hi Sunie, if you are most concerned about safety and schools you might want to look into the Longwood, Lake Mary and Oviedo areas. Do you mind me asking what interests you about Orlando? I'm just asking because so many
people I know actually want to move to the Carolinas from here (myself included).
