How does the entire Orlando metropolitan area compare in size to the city of Jacksonville? Jacksonville is ranked as the 13th largest city in the U.S. When you include all the surrounding suburbs such as Oviedo, Altamonte Springs, Apopka etc., how does Orlando compare in size and population? Is Orlando actually larger when you include all the towns that surround it? Most Florida natives i speak with say Orlando is one of the better areas in Florida for employment. Would you guys and gals agree with this? I already know the employment situation is horrible all over Florida and nobody should move there unless they have work set up or enough money to survive on and move away. I'm just asking for a general opinion on this. I'm very familiar with most of Florida. I've lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area. The only populated part i'm not too familiar with is Orlando and the space coast.

Population wise Orange County Alone can compare to ALMOST all of Jacksonvilles Metro, Almost. When You Include Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Inner Volusia Orlando is in Fact Larger. Not to Mention Including the Space Coast but they have their own Census population but if Included like it is in the OrlANDO tv market then it is A Larger Metro than jasckonville. So Yes.

I'm not so sure. According to the numbers on Wikipedia (I know it's Wikipedia, but the numbers come from the census), Orlando's metro area has over two million people (third-largest in Florida) while Jacksonville's has over a million (fourth-largest).

Whoops, I misread the poster above me. I thought he said that Metro Orlando was almost as big as Metro JAX, but he was talking about Orange County alone.

Metro Orlando is larger population wise. If Orlando was consolidated into one County/City like Jax/Duval it would likely be larger. Overall Orlando metro is also more diverse.
