Everyone knows there are some terrible drivers in Orlando. Is it something that really frustrates you (like it does me)? Is it something that strees you out a lot and ruins your day? Do you find it worse in Orlando, as opposed to Oviedo or Lake Mary?

The reason I'm asking is, is many of you know my situation. May move back to Orlando due to job. The pay is better and for a nice house in Asheville, you're looking at $250k plus (and we both make less here than in Orlando). But things like road rage/terrible drivers and crime are certainly a concern. I dont care of I have to drive on I-4 or the 408 everyday, but I dont want my wife and kids (when old enough) to be subjected to the idiots and danger found on Orlando's roads.

By living in Oviedo/Lake Mary/Windermere areas, can you somewhat limit yourself to the idiots on the roads?

It's all about choosing the right place to live, close to work. For example, I know people who work in Osceola county who live in Lake Mary. Seriously, could you pick a crazier commute? You're either in hell for an hour on I-4, or you are spending $$$$ on the 417.

Dr Phillips or Celebration would be a much better choice in that situation. You can potentially avoid I-4 altogether using SR 535 to get around..

Where would your potential job be?

^^^ Potential job would include probably driving all of Orange Co. I'm more worried about my wife and kids (when old enough) driving with all the morons than I am concerned about me having to drive around them all. Avoiding I-4 is probably a good thing to do and probably cuts down stress level by half, AT LEAST. 408 is not too bad at times, although I've certainly saw my share of idiots.

A little OT, but I'll never forget the time I was volunteering my time (all day) working at Habitat for Humanity. On the way there, here I am volunteering my entire day to assist in building homes for folks without the means to buy it themselves, and here I am driving on the 408 IN THE MIDDLE LANE, and I'm going probably 60 mph. A lady is behind me, passes me, looks at me as she passes me, and says Moderator cut: pg forum you."

Here I am in the middle lane, volunteering my time, and I get an "F You" and a middle finger for no reason at all. I was in the middle lane. Minding my own business.

I don't really see any road rage in the Lake Mary area. Granted, I do not drive on I4 and I stay around Lake Mary, Sanford, and Longwood. I find most drivers to be polite and let you in. Even if they don't let you in, they are not rude or they don't cut you off. For the most part, I find most people to be courteous. (no getting flipped off or getting honked at)

She was probably late in getting home to stuff her face with donuts and watch Regis. And you had the nerve to make her go around you ! If driving in Orlando is a big factor in your decision to move back, I would stay in Asheville. The sense of entitlement and rudeness on the roads in Orlando is just a microcosm of the general sense of entitlement most folks feel today.

I've only seen one incident of real road rage in my life in Orlando and it was about 10 years ago. The drivers here don't really bother me. It's really only the tourists (especially on I-Drive) who never know what they're doing.

I would never let something as stupid as bad drivers ruin my whole day. I don't think thats ever happened to me before. And I also never had road rage here. And it doesnt really matter which suburb your in, it depends more on how busy of a road your on. Alafaya in Oviedo isnt much different from Alafaya in Waterford. People in metro Orlando are pretty mobile, like the are in any other metro and they could be driving in Oviedo but live across town.

A bit of a stretch there. One of them happened in Apopka (Orlando metro I guess), but the other was in Volusia

Two fatal hit-and-runs reported: Fatal hit-and-run crashes reported in Orange, Volusia - OrlandoSentinel.com
