We are planning to move near Orlando, FL and do not want to regret after the move. Does anyone out there regret moving to Florida? And if so, why? Side note, I have a job...my husband needs to find one after the move.

No, I moved to Orlando 2 years ago from Atlanta and have been happy with the decision. However, there are plenty of people that move here and regret it. Many people just can't stand the heat, or choose the wrong place to live so you should take the advice of people on here when you choose where to rent or buy. Every place has pros and cons. The pros of living here outweigh the cons for me.

Metrowest is a good area to check out. One thing I like about it is that it is not too far from any part of Orlando. It feels like it's in the center of Orlando.

I completely disagree. Come on man, Metrowest? That is not a good area to live in.

Metrowest is actually pretty nice, but it is on the boarders of the bad part of town. Just drive a couple minutes up Kirkman Rd towards Colonial Dr and your in the 'Ghetto'.

Job is #1, location is very important. You have the right idea, to rent. It is a buyers market, but if you buy in the wrong area, you could loose big time. The traffic can be terrible during the rush hour. Finding a place that you want to live in that is close to stores and your job would be an important move. As has been pointed out, it gets very hot in the summer...so there are pool, air conditioning and clothing issues to consider. (I've gotten very happy and comfortable with shorts, light shirt and sandals)
Your husband can check around for a job, but it will take some networking, skills and possibly education.(You won't find many jobs in the want ads). Seems like everyone is looking for a job. On the plus side, there is plenty to see and do. I've found that overall, everyone here is friendly and most willing to help. With all the activity, you'll also find that the beaches, both East and West, are within driving range. Good Luck on your move!

Metrowest is pretty nice, aesthetically. But I wouldnt advise someone to look there. Just my opinion.

Dude, if Metrowest is not a good area to live in, then all of Orlando isn't. Where else can the OP find a nice place to rent an apartment and not be far from all what Orlando offers?

I'm sure the OP doesn't want to rent an apartment that is isolated.
