Good Afternoon! I am considering moving from Atlanta to either Tampa or Orlando and like to get feedback on singles life, both their economies, and etc.

I am a 30 yr old, single, young professional male, have a good job as a Regional Sales Manager for a IP security manufacturer, and Florida is one of my states that I manage, in addition to AL, GA, SC, NC, TN, and FL. I work out of my house.

I have traveled to the cities a couple of times visiting customers.

I have a strong sales and marketing background where the last company increased sales 600% from $120K to $3.4 million in 30 mths by aggressive cold calling, product demonstrations, and undercutting the competition, so, I am thinking that if something would happen where I would need to find a job, I can get a good paying job in any of the Florida cities.

My thoughts are if the company is in the business of money and profit and as I have a track record in the last 3 companies of providing solid growth 300%+ in each company, I should get hired...I always like to look at consequences of things to prepare myself if something would happen.

Please give me thoughts on Orlando or Tampa. THanks!

I do convention work in both cities and came from Atlanta 5 years ago. I think you'ld enjoy living in Tampa better and it also has slightly better job prospects.

The Tampa area has a bigger problem with water than the Orlando/Orange county area. Before we moved to Orlando/Orange county I talked to a state engineer about water problems in Fl. He recommended we not move to the Tampa area. Jacksonville was starting to have "salt water"intrusion in their water system too. South Florida was worse off than Central/Northern FL. Orlando seemed to be more aggressive in trying to manage the water problem.

My clients say the night life and being single in Orlando is great. I have never heard anything positive from Tampa. I would also move to Altamonte Springs or Maitland area if you choose Orlando. It's 10 mins north of downtown and coming from Atlanta it reminds me of Cobb county or Duluth. Safe but not too far from everything. Best of wishes

I wouldn't live in Tampa (Hillsborough County) property taxes are through the roof because most of Tampa is prone to excessive flooding by direct hit Hurricanes. On top of that, the crime is increasing, and if you ever watch those cold case shows, they always seem to be in Tampa. If you really like Tampa and you can manage the property taxes, may I suggest St. Petersburg just across the bay, you will like it much better.

I will tell you this much, Orlando has the nightlife you are looking for. There is Downtown Orlando, which the city is fiercely trying to remarket. There is CityWalk at Universal (which is a little more on the pricey side), Downtown Disney (which is undergoing a complete tranformation at the moment). You have the nations 3rd largest University by enrollment so there are college bars galore, and there are quite a number of honky tonks too.

There is something here for every kind of mood your feeling like. Plus our basketball team is amazing.

Orlando is better for singles over Tampa. Tampa offers some advantages over Orlando, but the nightlife scene is not one of them. Rent or buy a condo in Thornton Park near downtown Orlando and you will not be disappointed.
