Hi there,

I am considering moving to Orlando. I currently live in New York, so I would like to live in a more established/ neighborhood like Thornton Park. However, I am working in South Orlando, near Williamsburg. Here's my question -- how bad would the commute be? Is there another neighborhood that is closer to work that I should consider? Thanks! BTW, I am a single professional in my early 30s.

This would not be a horrendous commute but it can get bad at times. Normally I would say commuting out of downtown isn't bad but you will be commuting into the tourist corridor which tends to stay busy constantly. However, coming from these neighborhoods you have the option of taking Orange Ave southbound or getting off at JYP or other major roads if I4 is really backed up. Overall I would say it's doable, 15 minutes in good times, 30 minutes on average and use alternative routes if things get jammed up on I4.
