That's the bottom line, and not just in Orlando. SC is even worse right now. This is why things are taking so long to turn around; it's like a circle right now: nobody's hiring because nobody's buying because nobody has a job

I landed the job I've got now just shy of a year ago. I'm almost 50. I had a very wide skill set to bring to the table and most people think I'm about 10 years younger than I am as I keep myself in shape and dress in age appropriate but trendy styles.

Because I don't believe any company is anywhere near as bad off as they claim to be... Didn't Orlando surpass Vegas in tourism this year>

You are obviously terribly ignorant of what it takes to run a business. Friends of mine own a small restaurant that used to do quite well, they've been draining their IRA's to make payroll and pay suppliers lately. The only reason tourists are coming is because the hotels, theme parks, and restaurants are pretty much giving it away.

If you have a desirable skill, Orlando has a job for you. If you have no desirable skills, Orlando probably isn't that great for you. The past 5 years everybody could become a "mortgage consultant" when it was hot. There isn't many jobs like that anymore, except for maybe timeshare sales, but you have to live with yourself knowing you are ripping off people.
What an obnoxious response. I could get a job in a day in NY but not here in Orlando. I had desirable skills, just not in an industry that exists in Orlando.
ETA: I have a degree.

I think there a article in the orlando sentinel today about this very same thing......the quality of jobs are very low paying part time no benefits type of jobs.

orlando has to create some type of industry besides tourism......hopefullly lake nona will bring some knowledge based jobs.
