We're missing an a/c and a couple of air handlers in a house we're moving into (they were stolen), and we need to find out what company does good work, has the best prices, and is willing to drive to Groveland. We would prefer units with scroll compressors. We've heard Carrier is a really good brand.

I use ServiceMagic.com | Get Matched to Top-Rated Remodelers, Plumbers & More and Contractor, Landscaper, Remodeling, Painter, Doctor, Home Service & Restaurant Reviews - Kudzu.com to get all our work done. I just had Live Air come out today to clean our vents and a/c. Very nice man and did a great job!

Also, those sites are free to use. Angie's list is not so I stay away from them. I shouldn't have to pay to get work done IMO.

We got one quote on Friday from Mills Air, the ones that originally installed the stolen units, but we'd like a couple more quotes. I've also heard Island Air mentioned, in case anybody's heard of them? Thanks for the suggestions thus far!

I realize this is an old thread, but I used Lukas Air at the recommendation of a neighbor. They did a good job -- and two months later my electric bill went through the roof. Progress Energy insisted it was the A/C. One, two, THREE times the owner of Lukas Air (Jeff) came out at no charge to trouble shoot.

He was right.

It was a bad hot water heater.

Jeff wouldn't take a dime even though by rights he could have charged me for all 3 visits.

Those kind of ethics are not found these days. I will never use a different A/C company.

I'll add Ferran to this "conveniently reopened" old thread. They are largely a commercial company but do a good bit of residential work as well. I priced around when I needed to replace my entire system this summer and found them to be very competitive on price, professional, ethical and offer what is probably the most experienced service staff around.
