I have the chance to transfer to Lake Mary for work. Can someone please tell me if New Symrna Beach is a possible commute to Lake Mary? I am looking for a smaller beach community that is a resonable commute. Any help and advice is grateful. What about Edgewater?

If you consider an hour a reasonable commute you should be fine. Bear in mind the commute will involve rural two-lane road versus a highway which can be less stressful than a clogged interstate, or more so if you have to pass slow-moving vehicles constantly. New Smyrna Beach in my opinion is much nicer than what I've seen of Edgewater. Another option for a smaller beach community might be Ormond Beach which is a bit further, but involves an I-4 commute which moves along much faster. Traffic back-ups inbound don't begin typically until you pass the Lake Mary Boulevard exit, so congestion shouldn't be an issue.

You can take 44 to I-4 to Lake Mary and be fine.. just watch out for the NSPD on 44!! Yeap, it's a schlep, but it's mostly moving, and I know of people who lived on NSB who made it to work almost always on time.

The quickest way to Lake Mary from New Smyrna is 415. It takes us about 45minutes and it's a scenic drive.
