I live in NY currently, and NOT NYC, thank god, but central new york, in the country. I have been planning to move to Orlando, or Miami for quite some time. I did live last year in Port Richey for a month, but that was only temporary. For my career, (graphics) Florida is perfect, plus I absolutely love the weather down there, the animals and the environment. Also compared to here in NY, the people there are shockingly friendly. Anyways, I spent lots of time driving I-4, OBT, and the hunters creek area is where my girlfriend was so I spent lots of time driving all over Orlando, universal, winter park. I am looking for a very cheap place to live down there, get a job and support myself. I don't think a ***** house motel or drug alley is the place I want, but I'm really looking for cheap one room at least, since everything down there is so expensive. Anyone have any suggestions for names of apartments, houses with rooms for rent, or something? If not Orlando, is winter park, kissismee or where safer and cheaper or more expensive? I'm guessing about 500 or less price range, or is that unheard of in orlando area? Where else? If you wouldn't recommend Orlando.. Thanks

Go on internet to craigslist: san francisco bay area classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events, click on the Florida link for the state you want to search in, then click on Orlando for the city. Then click on housing either temporary or regular apt. housing & you'll probably find something.

I'm not in Orlando but I went to school at the University of Central Florida. Some of the areas you mentioned sound familiar so might I suggest checking out some of the privately owned apartment complexes near the school? You may be able to find houses for rent, too. They're expecting college students to rent from them so you may be able to get a good deal. Not too sure how you would feel about living around college students though.

Definately go on Craigslist under rooms for rent. I don't think your price will get you a one bedroom apt but it will get you a room...probably almost anywhere. You'll have to live with someone you don't know...but you'll have many choices...could be in a nice house with a pool in a good area. Winter Park is pretty nice but Kissimmee isn't a place I would recommend. Do you know where you want to work? Do you like going to the theme parks or would you rather spend time in the Downtown area? The Orlando area is pretty spread out...very different from the Upstate NY cities.

It will be hard to find something that inexpensive. Interesting that you mentioned the Hunter's Creek area. I used to live there so I did a quick MLS search for the entire Orlando area and found three listings that fit your criteria in all of Orlando. Ironically, one of those is actually about 5-10 minutes from Hunter's Creek and the only one of three that you probably would not be a statistic living in. Looks like an efficientcy home. Let me know if you want to pursue it furthur.
