Hi

I want to move to Sanford, FL. I need some suggestions on crime rate of that area. I want to put my family in safe area. I am also looking for good schools.

How is the area-- I-4 AND 46 cross section in sanford area, fl? My place is near to that.

I will really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

It's decent in that area. It's very close to everything. The crime is not bad over there. Are you in a house or apartment? Some of the apartments may not be the best.

Give me a break I go there all the time and feel safe. I only live about 10 minutes from there in Lake Mary. There are a couple rough areas in Sanford on the east side but there is no reason to be there either. If you chose to, then yes the crime is higher. There are some very nice subdivisions by I4 and 46, some of the homes go into the millions as well. Don't let it scare you.

The overall picture is that Sanford is a decent one and etenneessee is a bit off the chart here. I live in Hunters Creek and I bet befiriend would find the same here as he/she found in Sanford. My friends and their families live there for deacdes, send kids to local schools and own businesses in Sanford.
It has great schools and look out for your new location and the school's location(s), distance from your residence. For school info, check this site. I find this useful:http://www.greatschools.org/search/search.pagesearch_type=0&q=sanford&state=FL&c=scho ol (broken link)
Most schools in these areas are very strict about "zoning", and won't bus your kid(s) due to a "certain distance requirements". The distance requirment vasries and therefore, if you are to send kids to school using bus, pls check that as well. Look for the schools' address and contact numbers, call them, and ask!
Housing is affordable, compared to other central FL neighborhoods. Has many great shopping outlets and off course, The Disney, The Universal Studios and the Sea World, to name a few World Class attractions, are not too far away.
Have a safe move.
Welcome to the neighborhood!
Let the memories begin!

I always find fact more useful than delusional information. Notice 3/4 of Sanford is "safe" on the crime map. Altamonte Springs on the other hand has far less "safe" area. Typically speaking the western half of Sanford is quite safe and desirable, and the area around I-4 and 46 is fine.
