Ok guys, Im in Sanford, living right by I4&17/92.... I like the area, and clearly the closer to Lake Mary the nicer it is, my question is, are there any areas that can be described with street names to stay far away from? Ie... North of? East of?... etc?.... Some areas look pretty run down... and others look great

I live in Sanford also (on the extreme NW side). I would say as a general rule anything west of 417 is good and like you said gets better the further west you go. The best section is the NW side which extends west of I-4 and north of Heathrow from the Seminole Town Center area and south along the Lake Mary line.

You realize that Larry the Cable Guy is just an act right?? He doesn't even speak like that and I don't even think his primary residence is in Sanford.

Thanks for the input guys.... seems like if a little development money was spent on Sanford it could be quite a desirable area especially the lakeside areas.... looks like plenty gets spent on Lake Mary?...

They've spent a ton of money revitalizing downtown Sanford along the Riverwalk and first street. Check it out!

A good part of Sanford is decent. There are a few not so desirable areas as well.

Sanford has spent a lot of money revitalizing downtown but sadly it happened right before the economy tanked. If and when it ever recovers I think it has the potential to boom.

Back a few years I did some work at the marina. I recall Sanford was a relatively smelly (quite literally, smelled bad, that permeated my clothes) and the downtown was nothing but one antique shop after another. The rest was gun, pawn shops, and used cars.

YC.......
