It's actually not that bad. We beat Washington DC in this category. We're well ahead of Atlanta.

Which just goes to show you can make any stats and lists look the way the author prefers. It's not coincidence that any "best of" lists usually includes a healthy ranking of advertisers of the publisher.

Exactly!

The Amazon list was based on per capita sales on their website which hardly makes a city "well-read".

The other link from USA Today comes from an actual study which states.....

"The study, based on 2010, looks at measures for six items — newspapers, bookstores, magazines, education, libraries and the Internet — to determine what resources are available in each city and the extent to which its inhabitants take advantage of them."

Significantly more credible.

About as credible as the last list regarding the worst cities for young people which put Orlando #1
