I was thinking about Seacoast National Bank. From the looks of it they have free checking and no debit card fee, so I wonder what's the catch?

If you need a "commercial" bank like BOA with lots of branches and ATM access, suntrust might be one to consider. It's more a regional bank than BOA is

I just left BOA and and so many people recommend CFE federal credit union. My friends have bought cars and house throught them. Unlike BOA I could get them to finance anything for me and I have good credit. The only reason they have my mortgage they bought the group out and I been with this bank for over 10 years. Also check out Intrust credit union... These type of bank are less fees service banks.

I had BOA as well for about 4yrs and I recently switched to first florida credit union no monthly fees and I utilize any CFE location to do any transactions. CFE is a good choice as well but I do not know if they charge fees for checking accounts

I second Suntrust, I've had a great experience with them so far. Lots of locations, no annoying fees and great customer service.

SunTrust has been fine for me, especially since dumping their plans to charge a $5/month debit card fee.

There are numerous Credit unions. Fairwinds, McCoy, Space Coast and a host of others that often cater to a certain profession or such, teachers, firemen and so on.

The big difference between the credit unions and the larger banks is that they are generally not for profit and they are focused on the local market. Developing a relationship with your credit union can open the doors to very low terms for loans , car, home and others. I had a 3% on a car from Spacecoast. They only required a $100 account set up at the time to get it.

While I have had no issues with Chase, I had been with BoA and hated it, they help a direct wire for nearly 1 month. I would strongly suggest choosing another over BOA.
