When I lived near Jacksonville Beach I swear I once saw a small flock of flamingos fly overhead. So I wonder, being so much further south, if anyone in Orlando has ever seen a wild flamingo? Do they ever make it this far north?

Flamingos are not actually native to Florida. They were brought in from their natural habitats cause they look cool and tropical, so if you saw some in the wild they must have escaped from the park or place where they were being cared for. Usually their wings are clipped so they can't fly off.

There is a possibility that what you saw might have been a spoonbill- they are sort of pink, too.
