If it really does come to fruition with all of its promises I think it will be awesome. It will create another major industry for Orlando, which means a ton of new jobs. Plus, the renderings look great.

Ha ha no , I just have a problem with the 30 years it's supposed to take. So much can change in 30 years.

They were better off building a MLS stadium in that area.

Agreed. Just about a 30% chance in my book.

Ah ok. Well that makes sense. I just lolled when I saw your post because I read a ton of stuff today from the peanut galleries calling the demolition of a massive building with no character and a sea of parking a bad thing and that it should be re-purposed for something useful...like a "homeless shelter."

That said, 30 years is a long time...but that's for the full project to finish. Some things will go up faster than others. The developer (Ustler Corp) is probably the biggest reason I'm optimistic about it. While high rises were proposed and then snagged or built and turned from condos to apartments to hotels back to apartments (55 West) - the developer has done more modest things - but things that have worked. Thornton Park Central continues to be one of the most consistently active retail strips downtown (Hue, City Fish, Urban Rethink, Tijuana Flats, Shari, etc). GAI is a beautiful new building that does a lot for the area by adding a layer between the 408 and Constitution Green.

I'm pretty confident it will be built right and with the same emphasis on making downtown a better place as on making a buck.

Also - same people, similar project in Tampa - long-term build out but some pieces are already going vertical: ENCORE! - Downtown's Tempo District

I guess I just can't accept theidea about that long of a build out. Orlando has always been a growing DO IT NOW type of city and that is what I am used too.

That being Said Thorton park is remarkable. Love going there.

Still the Old Amway Center site is 70 Acres. And the Creative Village looks as though it ould be better developed from the rendering and concepts.

Something to consider is that this is going to be more than just a few buildings going up. There is zero infrastructure there now. All of the stuff that needs to go underground has to be done first from sewer to utilities. Roads need to be put in where there are none. It's not just "plug and play."

I think this will be easier to get along with once individual structures have names and CO dates and before you know it there are ground breaking ceremonies.

Haha Plug and Play. Reminds me of my City on Si City 5. I cant wait until Sim City 5 comes out. I'm going to try and do a replica of Metro Orlando with Sunrail and another transit system in place.

Anyone know anything more about this? I'm wondering how long it will be before companies will move in.
