They say Puerto Ricans are represented in Orlando like the Cubans are in Miami. I happen to agree. There are tons of Puerto Ricans down here. What is it about Orlando that made Puerto Ricans a major portion of its population?

They followed their families here. A few families came from the island and NYC and liked it. They told their friends and family and mass migration began. The climate is similar to the island and I think there is something to the whole Cuban v. Puerto Rican rivalry. I'm not either but have heard both my friends of each say they don't want to live in Orl/Mia because it's too Cuban/PR. But really it just comes down to a large population attracts a large population. That's why there's so many Cubans in Miami, Chinese in San Francisco, Black folks in Atlanta, etc.

And... Developers advertised low-cost homes there too. Many of the developers were Orlando-based. That is some of it but I dont know what caused it initially.

This was the point I was going to make. Back in the late 70s and early 80s when Buenaventura Lakes and Meadow Woods were just being developed. The builders advertised directly to Puerto Ricans because at the time the COL was low, jobs were plentiful and schools were good
BVL and Meadow Woods are NOT bad communities either. Depending on location some homes are late 70's construction while other subdivisions are still not built out (Wyndham Lakes) and there are a LOT of gorgeous homes in these areas and they are both minutes from Disney, and adjacent to the airport
