I personally believe children are a reflection of their parents (exceptions apply of course) and it's in poor taste for him to be in the background.

What difference does it make?
You don't get to sit right behind the candidate by chance. You're gay, this man made very homophobic comments(not the just the son, he did as well). You're OK with that?
How about keeping a low profile? Many times people with common sense and some class although they had nothing to do with the actions of the family member go on shooting spree and killing people, know enough to stay out of the public eye.
So to use your logic it was just fine that Dylan Roof's sister set up a Go Fund Me account asking for money due to having to postponing her wedding because of her brother's mass killing. I mean she didn't do it right? No thought given to how other people will react or even smart enough to think about her own safety.
That's OK right? I mean God forbid they think "you know what, it's better for me to lay low for awhile".
