It's hard to believe that the mother in this story actually "forgot" that she left her daughter in a hot car......

Toddler Dies After Left In Hot Car - Local News Story - WKMG Orlando (http://www.local6.com/news/14046107/detail.html - broken link)

I posted this because i went to the new Wal-Mart supercenter on Turkey Lake Rd. near I-Drive and after i was done in the store i was walking to my car and noticed a white van running with no one in it and as i got closer to see if there was actually no one in it i saw a little boy about 2 years old just sitting in his car seat while the parents or parent was in the store ......i waited there for about 5 minutes and the parent was still not back and another person noticed this too and started to call the cops but i told her i would just go in and tell the manager of the store while she was on the phone. So i told the manager and he walked out with me to see the car and as we were walking he said this was the 3rd time this has happened today...

Who thinks its ok to keep your child in a running car?

I don't.....who disagrees?....or agrees that it is wrong in any situation to leave a little one in the car?

Absolutely crazy to leave your child unattended under any circumstance. It has never crossed my mind to leave my children in a running car, even for a stop at 7-11.

You NEVER EVER should leave your kids alone in the car, even for a minute! Anything can happen! What are these people thinking?!

An excerpt from the Sentinel:

"Under a new Florida law that took effect July 1, anyone who leaves a child younger than 6 years old alone in a car for more than 15 minutes without the engine running can be charged with a second-degree misdemeanor.

If the child is injured, the adult can be charged with a third-degree felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine."

A move in the right direction, but what struck me was the wording "without the engine running"- You shouldn't leave them alone at all.

15 minutes!!! Wow, so 14 minutes is ok? I wouldn'd leave my kids alone for 15 seconds by themselves.

Thanx for your reply and everyone else that has replied

Maybe that's why the people that i reported at Wal-Mart left the engine running..........Maybe they have heard of the law and don't want to go to jail but they still don't care whether or not thier child is kidnapped or in the back seat while a car thief steals thier car........What is in that store that is so important that you can't wake you kid up and take him in there with you to buy it?

Yeah this is a different one.......this one happened yesterday........Which is the same day that i went to "one" Super Wal-Mart store and saw a little one in a car seat while the parent/s where no where near by and that was on top of 2 other incedents at this store that the manager told me happened all in one day....

I wonder.... if this happened all these times in this one Wal-Mart and one kid actually died yesterday in another area of town from this kind of thing....How many other parents are doing this around town?.........and why dont they post a reply on here and tell us thier excuses?

And you're really surprised this happened at a WALMART! This would never happen at a TARGET store, get used to it.
