My husband and I would like to relocate back to Florida in a couple of years, and are looking at the area around Clermont. Can anyone on the forum offer any thoughts on King's Ridge? Does it seem to be a friendly place that welcomes newcomers? Are there many activities? (We particularly enjoy "lifelong learning" classes.)

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

It's super friendly (they do Friday Happy Hour on their golf carts!) and the clubhouse seems to be constantly bustling wiht tons of activities.

Hi, annerk -- thanks for your response!

Friday Happy Hour on their golf carts? Sounds like our kind of place.

Do you live at King's Ridge, by the way?

No, I live nearby and have friends that live there.

Do you happen to know whether King's Ridge is "land lease" (ie, you lease the land your house is on instead of owning it)? I saw someone mention this on a forum thread someplace, but can't find out anymore about it.

Not to my knowledge. There is a HOA that's fairly strict and not inexpensive, but they do ALL exterior maintenance including a repaint every five years.

Yes, I've read about the HOA fees, which don't seen unreasonable for what you get. In addition to the repainting, they also apparently do all the landscape maintenance.

Speaking of amenities: Do you happen to know if King's Ridge runs any sort of shuttle transportation for residents (to shopping, medical offices, etc)? Also, is there a restaurant onsite?

Thanks so much for your information!

No shuttle that I'm aware of. There are doctors, dentists, and a community hospital within about a 3-4 mile radius, and Lake County has a paratransit service that some of the residents use.

I don't believe there is an onsite restaurant, but there are several accessible via golf cart in the adjoining Kings Ridge Plaza which offers a great Mexican place, Publix, dry cleaners, McDonalds, banks, a liquor store, and a host of other retail and service places.

Glad to hear the Mexican place is good!

Question Access to a calendar of activities?

Hi! Anyone know how to access an event/activities/clubs calendar from King's Ridge?

We are comparing 'ACTIVE' options among a few 55+ communities.

Thanks!
