I have yet to understand how the Maglev could be something of use for locals either.

But a few things from the articles about it suggests that the builder thinks so - 1) "Monthly Passes" and 2) "Connecting it to Sunrail/LYNX fare card"

#2 might have it's place, but a monthly pass to the airport? Unless a corporation could buy this to pool among employees, I don't see how it would make sense for an individual.

That said - it makes plenty of sense as a tourist train. If it pays the bills, then good for the tourists and good for the company. Us locals have an added option that might be convenient once in a great while.

IAmFloridaBorn is right - LYNX serves the airport pretty well, especially from downtown. Door to door service from LCS in roughly the same time that it takes to get from a city center to airport by rail (Atlanta, Chicago, DC) thanks to the airport not being too far from Downtown and the traffic not being too bad. Can't beat $2 either.

My point was that without Sunrail we would not have seen these projects and proposals. I was just highlighting the financial benefits sunrail has already generated.

What is with that "explosion" in the first video? Is that supposed to be a time bubble, like a Delorean trip into the future?

I wish there was a "Park & Ride" from the Hunters Creek area. Route 4 rides along OBT all the way into the downtown area but hell, I've heard that takes about 90 minutes when driving takes me about 35-40. Personally I'd ride SunRail in a heartbeat if it's not far out of the way. Is construction on schedule?

Yes it is. You know they have fast link 441 right?

I don't know if that takes 90 minutes even on Route 4 (it might though?)

Check out google maps driving directions and change the icon from the car to the bus and get a feel for how long it should take.

Otherwise, FL Born may be right - drive south to Osceola Square Mall and pick up the 441 route - plenty of free parking there.

LYNX was pushing for more true express buses from that area but funding isn't there

I was only familiar with Lynx 4. Thanks for the mention; I will do a little research.
